Earlier this week, Kim Block from WGME13 visited our museum to interview our Executive Director, Suzanne Olson. This winter and the parade of bad weather conditions & bitter cold has greatly challenged countless families in need. The story is here:
PORTLAND (WGME) — All the cold weather has families flocking to the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine. But for some families, the cost of admission is out of reach. That’s why the museum offers scholarships to help make the museum accessible to everyone.
That fund is running dry, though, and the museum is hoping Mainers will consider making a difference for families in need.
“One letter I had recently that really touched me came from a homeless father who has a chance to have his children visit once a month. He wrote me a letter saying ‘I want a place I can be proud to bring my children and spend time with them together,’ pretty hard to say ‘no’ to that,” Suzanne Olson, Executive Director, Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, said.
A one year admission scholarship is $95, but the museum says it will gladly accept donations of any kind to help families enjoy the museum. No one is turned away, but the fund helps a lot.
