Toys Come Alive at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine

PORTLAND The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine presents The Sun Shines On: Raggedy Anne and Andy. This children’s play is based on the early stories of Johnny Gruelle, adapted and directed by Reba Short, and performed by CMTM’s talented company of young actors with music by Colin Gulley of the Toughcats.

This exciting story of imagination and toys that come alive is suitable for all ages. The play begins with young Marcella’s birthday party. What do you give a girl who has every toy, from stuffed bears to Barbie dolls, and doesn’t play with any of them? Anne and Andy of course! Rag dolls have entertained children for almost a century. If anyone can spark imagination and convince a seven year old to love her toys, it’s this cheerful duo! Come watch them fly a kite, make taffy and sing songs.

The Sun Shines on: Raggedy Anne & Andy opens May 8th and runs through May 17th. The performance schedule is Fridays, May 8th & May 15th at 4pm. Saturdays May 9th & May 16th at 11am, 1pm, & 4 pm. Sundays May 10th & 17th at 1pm & 4 pm. The production will take place in the Dress Up Theater of the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, 142 Free St. Portland.

Tickets are $7 each, $6 for CMTM members. Space is limited; reservations are recommended. Reservations can be made by calling (207) 828-1234 ext. 231. For more information, visit
